Is it hot in here, or are you just suffocating me in this relationship? |

It just seems like a lack of commitment from the majority of people to me. There is the guys behind the scenes who work their bollix off to get something together and not enough people will show. We'll have a build up of interest, but when it comes down to it people will not show for a training session. It'll be too far away, on a Saturday, too close to IAFL games and so on. It is sad because there are guys who want to play on every team.
Just my 2 cents. _________________ Self-praise is for losers. Be a winner. Stand for something. Always have class, and be humble. - John Madden

At what stage is Team Ireland at right now? Could Maurice or whoever is involved give us an update on what progress has been made, what he needs to get the admin/coaching structure up and running properly (much more important than getting player turnout in the beginning IMHO) and what is being done to solve the problem of coaches not being willing to release players for TI training during the season.
I think if TI weekends are factored into the scheduling at the AGM it would make for better turnouts, I do think the interest is there on the ground but it needs to be cultivated by good coaching and a proper structure. People give out coz some of the stars of the league dont show to TI training. If they aint interested, they aint interested, no big deal...
TI should be the best run program in the country, if it is, we wont have a problem attracting players. I think a training camp style weekend in the preseason would be great for all players who are interested in playing to teach them the basics of whatever playbook TI would use and then at the very least you would have a pool of players that would be able to go out on the field and know what the plays were. _________________ L. Alpha - all of that was detailled in the proposal that was circulated before last year's AGM.
All coaching positions were advertised in an effort to build a squad of coaches from around the country.
The response was pitiful. In fact, apart from a couple of people who were already involved in the coaching team (and some crazies who were vetted), there WAS no response.
Hence, the very foundation of the team has not been laid... and I don't think there can be any progress until that is rectified (and I don't see it being rectified, as nobody is bothered coaching).
Sorry Paul - just clarifying some stuff, not trying to start a debate. |

No worries Andy. A lot of the stuff I'm hearing here and now I did not know about so it is all good. _________________ CRAIGAVON COWBOYS
